Welcome to CAJA of Madison County

Children Deserve A Safe and Happy Home

There are over 2,000 reports of child abuse or severe neglect in Madison County every year!

CAJA volunteers are appointed by judges as Officers of the Court to objectively investigate child abuse and neglect cases. CAJA volunteers come from all professions – teachers, engineers, auto workers, homemakers, college students. They are united in the belief that every child deserves a safe, permanent home, as quickly as possible.

The Children Need Your Help!

More than 500 Madison County children are in the foster care system. Due to funding limitations, we were only able to help 20% of these children. Shouldn’t every day be a good day when you are a kid? You can make a difference!

CAJA is the only volunteer organization that empowers everyday citizens as officers of the court. In an overburdened social welfare system, abused and neglected children often slip through the cracks among hundreds of current cases. CAJA volunteers change that. Appointed by judges, CAJA volunteers typically handle just one case at a time—and commit to staying on that case until the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. While others may come and go, CAJA volunteers provide that one constant that children need in order to thrive.
