2027 CAJA Volunteer Training Schedule: Every Class and Deadline

CAJA of Madison County will offer four volunteer training sessions in 2027: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.

What to Expect

Before being assigned to a child, every CAJA volunteer completes approximately 35 hours of pre-service training. Training is held in person near downtown Huntsville and includes classroom instruction, court observation, and a swearing-in ceremony.

Most classes are held two evenings per week from 6:00–9:00 p.m.

Volunteer Requirements

CAJA volunteers must:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Pass required background checks
  • Complete pre-service training
  • Commit approximately 10 hours per month
  • Commit to serving for at least one year

Once assigned to a case, volunteers get to know their child, visit regularly, attend court hearings and meetings, gather information, and provide written reports to the juvenile court. Most importantly, they remain a consistent advocate for the child throughout the life of the case.
