CAJA of Madison County exists to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every child who has experienced abuse or neglect can have a safe, permanent home. It’s a straightforward mission, but the impact behind it is significant: children with a CAJA volunteer spend, on average, 8 months less time in foster care than children without one.
That difference comes down to consistency. A CAJA advocate is often the one adult in a child’s case who isn’t a caseworker, a lawyer, or a judge rotating in and out — just someone who shows up, learns their story, and speaks up for what’s actually in their best interest.
We’ve been doing this work in Madison County since 1989, and the need hasn’t gone away. If anything, it’s grown. That’s why we say it plainly: I am for the Child®. We hope you are too.
